I looked up into the sky and saw the most beautiful colours. I took the photograph, came home and went to work on my art piece. The Kite is symbolic of freedom, joy and happiness. I love these soft colours and saw this image in my mind's eye quite a while ago. It's a wonderful feeling to get it out.

While so many people have been locked down due to Covid restrictions, we’ve been lucky to have had restrictions lifted and to be able to get away camping regularly. Set up in the bush, by the fire, overlooking the river is where I get so much of my inspiration. The sight and sounds of nature, the fresh air. It feeds my creativity and my soul.

There is no ignoring the realities that face us on a daily basis... especially in this media age where we are bombarded with harsh images and recordings, from all over the world.. right into the intimacy of our very homes. There's no escaping it... but we don't have to absorb it all either. Negativity easily permeates our thoughts which inevitably has a knock on effect causing anxiety, depression, anger and sadness.
